Tweedetaalteorie vir die eerstetaalonderwyser
Abstract
In this article the first language teacher is made aware of second language teaching theory. Particularly Krashen' s second language theory is referred to and implications of his work for mother tongue teachers are discussed. The over-emphasis on form and structure in first language classes (talking/reading/writing about the language) is looked at in terms of Krashen' s theory and it is concluded that the emphasis in first language classes should be far more on the functional use of the language (talking/reading/writing in the language).Downloads
